How to assess English fluency remotely without guessing
Self-reported levels are unreliable and written tests miss the point. Assess the mode the job actually uses.

Almost every remote applicant lists English as advanced. Almost none have been tested on it in the situation your job requires — under mild pressure, out loud, about an unfamiliar topic.
Match the test to the job
- Phone-facing roles: needs fast, clear speech under interruption
- Written support roles: needs accurate, tone-appropriate writing
- Internal technical roles: needs comprehension more than fluency
A simple reliable test
Ask an unscripted follow-up question. Rehearsed answers are smooth; the follow-up reveals real working fluency. This is exactly what a video screening with adaptive follow-ups produces.
Accent is not fluency
Judge comprehensibility and speed of understanding, not accent neutrality. Customers adapt to accents quickly; they do not adapt to confusion.
